Module 6: Living the Change
Session: Do
Gratitude Journal
How can you become more mindful of your gratitude? One of the easiest and most popular ways is to keep a gratitude journal.
What to do: Keep a gratitude journal for a week.
Use your change journal for this.
Once a day, write down a few things – or even one thing – that you’re grateful for. Make it as short or long as you want to. It might be a single sentence, a list, or pages full.
Your gratitudes could be about things related to your change journey. Something you learned, got better at, did well, or are reaping the benefits of. Even if something in your change journey didn’t work out as you hoped, maybe there were positive spin-offs or side-effects that you’re grateful for.
Or, if you prefer, include things unrelated to your change journey. Or don’t think about the change at all.
Be aware of how you feel while you’re writing your journal entries, as well as afterwards and through the day.
If you’re getting something positive out of it, keep going with your gratitude journal beyond just one week.
Note: It may help to do this at the same time each day. Maybe when you wake up, or just before you go to bed, or during a break.
