Small habits
Find a prompt, find a behaviour, start a tiny habit.
BJ Fogg made going to the toilet his prompt. Each time he went, he did 2 push ups – the behaviour. That became a tiny habit that grew into a big change: he built 2 push ups up to 5, 8, 10 and sometimes 12, and soon he was doing more than 50 push ups every day.
What to do: In your change journal, write down the existing habit you’re going to use as a prompt for your new small behaviour.
Write it in this format:
AFTER I [existing habit]
I WILL [new small behaviour]
Then, start putting your new small behaviour into action.
