What to do: In your change journal, make some notes about the process of weighing the pros and cons of making a change.

  • What are the top two or three pros (or benefits) and cons (or costs)?

  • What is the most important reason you want to change?

  • Do you think the pros outweigh the cons? Why? Or why not?

  • Did the exercise make you think about anything you weren’t aware of before? What was that?

  • Now that you’ve weighed the pros and cons, do you feel more prepared for making the change? How?

  • Do you feel more inclined to change now, or less inclined? Why?
