Uncover your immunity to change

You can’t change if you don’t know what’s holding you back from changing.

So the first thing you need to do is to become aware of your immunity to change, and to make your unconscious competing commitments conscious. This 4-part exercise, based on the work of professors Robert Kegan and Lisa Laskow Lahey, is designed to help you do that.

We suggest you find an hour to work through it unhurried. We’ll take you through it step by step. At each step, you’ll need to do some thinking and some writing, so get your change journal, and let’s get started.

Note: If you’re trying to make, or thinking about making, more than one change, just choose one to focus on for now, and do this exercise with that one change in mind. You can come back and do it again for a different change.
